Jane Eyre - Art motif

Today we searched throughout the book looking for motif's that Charlotte Bronte related to different types of art such as paintings, drawings or music. We discovered that when Charlotte wrote about art within the story, she described it with great detail. She wrote about every little detail so that the reader could get and exact picture of what she was talking about. Our group came to the conclusion that we thought she got so detailed with her descriptions about art because they were the only thing that she really enjoyed and felt comfortable around. Since she was so close to her art and enjoyed creating it, it was easier for her to remember and describe because she wanted to forget about the bad times she had while growing up and remember all the good ones, which was the art she created.

  1. I agree. There have been many motifs so far in this book, but art is one of the most important. She loves to draw and paint and she does during a lot of her free time. She even draws portraits of people such as Miss Ingram to get a feel of how she compares to her.
